You may have noticed we missed last weeks Friday Finds. This was due to a number of reasons but mainly because neither of us had a moment to stop and think about anything. We’ve been organising our exhibit at Venture Fest including the delivery of a domestic 3d printer that decided to short itself that very afternoon, hopefully it will be up and running again by the weekend.
Dan’s been working on model making skills with the first year students at the University again and heading up a joint venture with a client that we managed to win a bit of funding towards! I’ve had a technical crisis with computers and been focusing on some in-house elements on the business side of things. I’ve also gotten involved with an interesting sports research project headed up by the University of Delft in the Netherlands. More on that later. Looking ahead i’ll be attending Made North Conference so if you’re about come say hello and if you’re still to get a ticket, get one. Quick!
The first find this week relates back to all our involvements with the University. Its a video to promote the importance of design education in Britain’s schools and universities, its contribution to successful business, and its fundamental role in supporting the UK Economy.
You may have seen the next find already but i couldn’t help posting it. Technologically its exciting. I don’t know who wants to sit by there window to use a computer but then its probably not designed to be sat in front of for hours however then i wouldn’t be able to justify its expected enormous price tag.
Theres talk of it being the windscreen of a car too, i can’t help but think its going to be responsible for a lot of traffic accidents if thats the case. It would need to come with limited features to limit distractions or have some kind of sensor to make it appear and disappear when the car is in motion?
Finally i found this over at idsandbox. Rare footage of the american designer Walter Dorwin Teague. Amazing to see how things were back then!
Happy Friday!
